Some time ago I began frequenting a great new business in downtown Scranton know as Dionysus Downtown. The owner, MJ Dougherty was a very personable owner, invested in his business and they had a great lively staff. With a modern, sleek, and gorgeous looking bar complete with one of the coolest custom wine racks to go along with a sleek and simple brand i was surprised to see the website did the venue no justice. Difficult to navigate with poor image selection and an even worse typographic hierarchy it was easy to see that their site wasn’t going to drive them any extra foot traffic and there was no way for anybody to follow what was going on via Facebook/Email/Twitter. So for the first stage of the redesign I set up the bar with a relatively inexpensive Email Marketing program that would be able to grow with their contacts. After a few months of building upon a growing fan base in the downtown area we collectively decided to launch the new website at the 1 year anniversary party. Everything designed and approved, the release went well and the website looks leaps and bounds better along with built in google maps integration and better contact info to allow customers to find the bar easier (it’s a little off the beaten path for downtown along with zoning regs that don’t allow them to have a physical sign on the building). All in all easily the best project I’ve been able to complete on my own, thanks to some programming help from Joey Z www.joeyzonline.com with some nice css and java work to speed up the process.
